About

Margene Workshop

At Margene, we make trousers that fit beautifully, wear effortlessly, and last a lifetime. Our collections are crafted from artisanal fabrics sourced from British mills and specialist weavers - designed with a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to longevity.

Our approach is rooted in craft, inspired by the tailoring traditions of Savile Row and India, where extra seam allowances are built into garments to allow for subtle changes over time. We're bringing this philosophy into the present - redefining what it means to invest in clothing while uniting a network of artisans who share our vision for thoughtful, enduring fashion. This philosophy is woven into every design and inspired our name, Margene - an evolution of 'margin,' refined and reimagined for modern women with modern lives.

But true tailoring doesn't stop at production; it should evolve with you. That's why we created 'Alter' - our complimentary platform that connects you with skilled local seamstresses and dry cleaners for seamless adjustments. The perfect fit isn't just about size - it's about evolving with your body, your style, and your life.

Margene is more than just trousers. It's a mindset. A fresh perspective on craft, fit, and the stories woven into every piece you wear.

From the day you decide to buy a pair of trousers to the day you pass them to your daughter; we want to be there.

Founders

Margene began as a project by two friends in London in 2023, out of a frustration we all know too well - trousers that didn't fit quite right and couldn't be adjusted as our lives evolved. And we wanted to fix that.

Aditi, a Central Saint Martins graduate with experience at Burberry and JW Anderson, brings a refined design sensibility rooted in silhouette, detail, and craft. Kewal, an alum of Phoebe Philo, Marc Jacobs, and Margaret Howell, brings expertise in product development and production - his strengths lie in sourcing and building systems that support design with intent.

Ethos

With everything we make and do at Margene, we prioritise:

Craft

The spirit of craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do. From the fabric to the fit, every Margene piece is made with intent, detail, and pride - by people who know their stuff.

Longevity

Great design should outlast trends. Our trousers are made to stand the test of time and adapt - to your life, your body, and your wardrobe. We leave space - quite literally and metaphorically - for garments to be adjusted over time. We are challenging the disposable nature of fashion by offering lifetime alterations through our platform, Alter. It's not just about trousers - we're building a fresh, more considered system for dressing.

People

Behind every stitch is an experienced artisan who shares our commitment to skill, heritage, and sustainability. We're building a network of brilliant local tailors and dry cleaners - giving visibility and respect to the hands that make Margene what it is. Tailoring shouldn't be a luxury; it should be part of the everyday.

Production

Our process begins with sourcing the finest deadstock and surplus fabrics from heritage British mills and specialist suppliers.

We approach design with intention and longevity - engineering every seam and stitch to be alterable, reflecting our belief that garments should evolve with their wearer.

Working in close partnership with small-batch factories and independent makers across London and India, we prioritise quality, ethical practices, and skilled craftsmanship. From precise cutting to minimal inventory, each trouser is made with care and a commitment to low-impact production.

We produce only what we need, keep things local to reduce our footprint, and build relationships that support and empower local economies.
